I installed this myself on the roof of a camper conversion Dodge Grand Caravan. Cutting the hole to fit requires some careful attention, but is not at all difficult. The fan itself fits perfectly between 2 ribs of the van roof. I used butyl tape to seal off the joint and self-tapping screws to fix the exterior flange. It has enough flexibility on the interior side flange to accommodate the thickness of my insulation (self-adhesive foam / reflectix barrier) and the wood paneling I used for finish. If looks matter to you, on a black van like mine you could paint the white protruding section for a professional finish. Fan is powerful, reversible and very quiet, I've been running it for 2 months with no issues.

Purchased for my Sprinter camper van build. Installation was straight forward. Cut hole according to instructions. Orientate where vent opens toward back of vehicle. Bed in roof with butyl caulk. I didn't have to cut down interior finish frame, just popped on and screwed flush to my ceiling.I wanted a simple unit without extra things to break. This unit was best price for my needs. I like the smoked lid so I can see out the top. I like the screen to keep bugs out. It doesn't come with a remote. I didn't want one because I can't keep track of them anyway and have no problem reaching my van ceiling. The fan starts on exhaust every time you power it on. You have to switch it to "in" on lowest setting...and then once the direction changes can take it up to full speed to bring in fresh air. It isn't loud and doesn't disturb my sleep.I also like that it blends with my roof for stealth camping in cities.

Review:I chose this over the bigger model as this has 2 arms holding the lid up or down. It also fits in a smaller spot. My unit had a 9" unit before.14" units will be more universal and quicker to find a replacement if it is damaged or breaks. This is reasonably quiet and moves a fair bit of air at lower speeds. This sucks a lot of air and can create a breeze even on a hot day if you crack a window near where your sitting.Surprise 11" bonus hack:I though of sticking a 14" cover on the top so it would be low profile and still offer rain protection when open. It works okay. A large 14" fixed vent cover is more fool proof except for clearance issues.
