This case offers some minimal fire protection, but it won't provide protection in a major fire. While the description says it is UL-94 V-1 certified, that standard is for the individual materials, not a certification of the product as a whole. In addition, UL-94 V-1 is a “flammability” standard, meaning the material won’t catch on fire itself but does not address the fact that the materials could degrade or melt in a fire. Again, UL-94 V-1 is a flammability standard, not addressing if the varying materials used in a product will keep together structurally.That being said, the siliconized fiberglass fabric that covers most of the case is an excellent fireproof material. It’s virtually impervious to fire. My concern is the plastic zipper and trim pieces. In a major fire, the plastic in these parts of the case will melt, likely exposing the contents.I feel that the product description statement “withstanding temperatures up to 5200F” is very misleading and gives a false sense of security, thus the 3-star rating. There is no insulation in this case, so the inside temperature will reach the external temperature over time. If the inside temperature reaches the ignition temperature of the contents, the contents will catch on fire. For example, the ignition temperature of paper is only around 450F. If the case is surrounded in a 1,550F fire, without insulation the inside temperature will quickly reach 450F and will not keep paper contents from catching fire even if the case remains sealed.On a positive note, if a building is on fire and put out with water, the waterproof construction of the case is excellent. As long as the case isn't in the fire directly for any period of time, it will keep the contents dry.To summarize, this is a nice, high-quality waterproof case to protect semi-important items in case of a minor fire or water-related disaster. However, don’t assume it will protect anything from a major fire. If what you are storing inside is of utmost importance, consider spending more and get a fireproof/waterproof steel safe that is fire rated over a reasonable time period (e.g. 1,550F for 30 minutes or longer) meaning it's insulated. Get the highest rating you can afford.

This document bag is waterproof including the zipper. The bag is fireproof rated up to 5200° F though I have not personally tested for fire protection. The bag is well made & it is hard-sided. The bag offers plenty of storage for USB drives, ID cards, credit cards, passports, etc. The zipper of the bag can be secured with the built-in combination lock. It also has a zippered accordion file that can be removed from the bag which is a very nice feature. File organizer tabs are included.There is a portion of the bag that can house a laptop but it's too small for mine. My laptop would fit if the corners of the bag were not so rounded. The handle of the bag is very nice & easy to grip. The bag does not come with a shoulder strap which would be a nice feature.The combination lock is easy to set. The directions included also provide a way to find your combination in the event that you have forgotten but I could not figure out how to do that.Overall, it's very nice but it could use a shoulder strap & better directions for the combination retrieval.

Lock is a little confusing, but was not looking for a safe as much as I wanted something that was a fire and water protector

Good size, sturdy build, and lots of compartments for organizing documents. We keep our entire family's worth of personal documents inside. I really hope that it is truly fire proof... Since I don't have a way to check that.
