I had brought in a feral-born kitten, and after getting her through some health issues (upper respiratory infection), I was able to get her spayed. I had decided to get her a recovery suit as an alternative to the cone of shame. It is a good thing that I did, as the cone of shame started to re-awaken her feral instincts and she tried to batter it off. I was able to get her into the suit, and she did look pretty darn cute while wearing it (she is a color point, so has blue eyes and I got the suit in blue). However, she kept trying to get at the Velcro along the back, and the fabric started to lose integrity before her healing was complete. If I have another female kitten, I'd probably order again--but I'd get two from the outset.

We just got our kitten spayed. We obviously tried the cone we got from the vet, but she hated it. She was bucking around like an angry bull, and I figured that wasn’t good for her stitches. I was searching for a onsie, and I came across this. I would have preferred pink, but the blue one was next day delivery so I got it.When I say it’s a life saver. Omg. She stopped acting like a little raging Bull once we switched the cone out for this. She was unable to open it and unable to access her stitches. She calmed down and LOL she looked SO cute. She was having trouble doing literally anything with the cone on. Litter box time was a hassle. She almost drowned herself trying to drink water. Knocked her food bowl over. It just wasn’t working out. When she got this onsie, she was able to go back to being normal. Sometimes she would still try to lick at her stitches, but the way the onsie was constructed made it so the Velcro attachment area was over the surgery area and she couldn’t disturb it by licking the onsie. After she was healed we just threw it in the washer/dryer and it’s as good as newShe was still able to use the restroom with this on. It didn’t really hinder her in any way. Obviously I don’t think this would work for boys. But I would 100% recommend this. And if she or my female dog ever need surgery again, I’m getting a bigger one.

Bought this for my cat when she got spayed and they're definitely better than a bulky cone. My cat isn't too fond of wearing it, and sometimes bites at it but they still hold up. At first I was nervous because it secures with velcro, but the velcro is doing great and hasn't gotten stuck on any blankets, or come loose from biting and pulling.I thought my cat would be a small so that's what I ordered, plus one medium just incase and the medium actually works better, so when you order get multiple so you can keep them clean, and try the sizes. I ordered more in the size she wears and the blue color seems to be bigger than the pink color. Pink is fine but in the blue one she gets her arms stuck in the body and then wiggles out. They're super easy to put on. I personally start with the head and then the legs. The head hole actually sits more around their chest so when she tries to run I can hold her in place just by holding the onesie. Sometimes when the cat is laying down it's easier to put all her limbs in the correct spot. !!ORDER THEM BEFORE THE VET APPOINTMENT!!! That way the vet can put it on your cat after the surgery and they can wear it home. If you wait to put it on at home, you'll have to deal with a very angry cat, and the process will be more difficult and stressful.Again I recommend buying multiple to keep them fresh. My cat hasn't gotten it dirty from eating or the litter box, but as her stiches heal, there has been some leakage or leftover blood the very first day, so having multiple means your cat always has clean material over the stitches, and when you change them it gives you an opportunity to check the healing process and take any additional steps. Other times I'll just take a peek through the leg hole to make sure the stiches are okay.Overall this is a great product, my main issue is that the sizing guide was a little off for my cat, and different colors seem to fit differently, so I definitely recommend buying multiple to see what fits your cat best. I bought this for my cat (female) and it works great but I'm not sure if it'll work for male cats. Other procedures that require tummy stitches will be fine, but not for dogs, the yail opening won't allow a dog to relieve themselves without peeing themselves.

Awesome option for post op kitties. Our kitty hated the cone after her spay, so we ordered this with free one day shipping and it arrived the next day!The sizing was something we were anxious about. Our kitty is kinda long and thin, and weighs 4.7 pounds. Weight wise, she met criteria for medium. Length wise, she was TINY bit longer than the small. Chest wise she was a small. We took someone’s advice to focus on the length and got the medium - that was good advice. Keep in mind, weight is less important - the material stretches. Chest width is also less important - you can adjust this in two ways (Velcro on the back AND an elastic adjuster on the neck) and we easily accommodate her smaller chest. The length cannot be adjusted and if we had gone with the small, our kitty would have been sad! This thing was easy to put on and once it was on, it stayed put. We were convinced our cat would take it off but as the Velcro on top and neck adjuster are out of reach, they really can’t take it off. She flipped around for twenty minutes but quickly got used to it. She’s been to the litter box in it and handled that just fine (no messes; the hole is appropriately positioned). She can move and eat freely! Plus our other cat is less freaked out by her now that she is without the cone. After buying this I would NEVER use a cone again. This was a small price to pay for peace of mind. The cone was miserable to wear, and we felt worried leaving the house because she kept getting her paw stuck in it and couldn’t figure out how to eat or use the litter box with it. This recovery suit is much more comfortable for her. Worth every penny!

After ten days of wear, I finally took my kitten out of her suit, and I already miss how adorable she looked in it. This is a MUCH kinder and more comfortable alternative than the cone, and one I painfully waited two days for arrival after she came home from spay - a quick purchase after seeing her violently throw herself around to escape the scary cone on her head. This is a game changer, and honestly, something I’m annoyed that the Vet didn’t encourage from the start. Start by putting the head and front paws in first and then move onto back legs. TWO POINTS OF IMPORTANCE: You must remove suit to keep an eye on the incision daily to make sure it’s healing well, and keep cone or toy handy if your kitty may bite or scratch during removal. Opening the Velcro triggered my little one every time, and it was helpful to have a string toy handy to distract between removing back legs so I could see her belly and get suit back on. Take your time. Use cone or toy distraction, and it’s much more bearable. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the suit received came with the string around neck, which I was prepared for thanks to other reviewers. Either cut it off or tuck in the little neck hole so that the string is never visible or reachable. Serious hazard if left dangling, and seller should go back to the suits without. My 7lb kitty fit a size M perfectly, and I will absolutely buy again in future if she or any of my babies every have surgery again!
