At this point I can't complain - setup was easy to add to my current TP-Link Mesh system. I have a 2400 SF house in an "L" shape. I placed this in the back yard against the wall which would be the top of the "L" - I went to every corner outside .33 acre, and even gave me a 100% signal on the opposite side of the house and across the street. I never had that strength before. I use it while having Internet supplied by Starlink, and it works seamlessly.

This was step 1 of getting ready to retire my beloved Apple Time Capsule which continues to work well. Unfortunately it's getting dated and with the number of devices on the network now I just needed to make the jump to Mesh to cover the house properly.I'm technically not using the mesh function yet but I am using this as a standalone router. Even as a standalone it's performing better than my Time Capsule. Has all the built in features you need in a router and is quite small. Coverage so far is great - just looking to acquire more to build a true mesh network.Recommended!

I had a standard Deco in the window of a shed about 100 feet from my house, trying to get Internet to the shed, but the connection was slow and dropped frequently. I mounted this outdoor unit on the wall, and the connection has been stable and fast ever since. I really didn't think a pane of glass would block the signal that much, but the difference is huge now that the unit is outside the window.

This was my first ever Deco unit, so I wasn't aware of how locked down they were - your first one must act as either a router or wired AP and cannot be used to extend an existing non-deco network. That's fair enough - more fool me for not doing my research. It just so happened that the router I was using as my AP began dying the night before this arrived, so despite being an outdoor model it now serves in my bedroom. There were some initial teething issues - for whatever reason it defaulted to router mode despite being connected to a pre-existing routing firewall, so that was a brief nightmare. THEN, after being set to AP mode, it began running a 'smart' DHCP server by default. My network's set up to only allow one DHCP source so no damage was done, but I could see this behavior totally ruining a layman's afternoon.Suffice it to say, I don't think the first Deco installation really lives up to the ease of use claims - but once you get everything set up correctly it's a fast, stable and performant solution. It makes full use of Spectrum's 500/500 plan under ideal conditions and actually fixed a few stubborn issues I'd been chasing down for weeks, too.I liked it so much that I went ahead and bought another Deco for mesh coverage on the far side of the house and I'm happy to report that adding a second Deco couldn't be easier! Just tap the plus sign in the app, let it find the new device, done. Remember to activate fast roaming in advanced settings for best performance - pow, you have a fully functional mesh network. While I am using the device indoors, I have every confidence that it would survive outdoors for an extended duration. Once you screw the bottom back on and properly secure the wires, there's just no ingress for rain to get in. Anything short of dunking it should be fine.At $99.99, you're paying a premium for weather resistance. Indoor models with comparable features can be had for nearly half the price, so don't be like me!Regardless, I love this thing now that it's all set up. It makes a much nicer dumb AP than the OpenWRT router I had squeezed into that role. If you need an outdoor AP, this is a great choice for a pre-existing Deco network.

I currently have the Deco S4 3-piece mesh system set up. It works well, but given the shape of my house, and the weak antenna on the Simplisafe doorbell, my doorbell camera still regularly lost signal and didn't function properly. I was looking to add another device to my mesh system and came across this device. Setup was pretty easy once I found where to connect the power. I almost took off a star for the lack of instructions but the device is working so well I decided not to. There are no instructions in the box so had to go to the product pages photos to figure out what to do (you have to unscrew the bottom - if not putting outside, you don't have to reinstall the rubber gaskets but if you are installing outside, make sure to use both rubber gaskets - it'll be a tight fit but it does still close, just remove the rubber from the slot the cord will need to go through). Once I got the power connected, connecting it to my current system was pretty seamless. I placed it right on the other side of the wall from the doorbell camera. It took a little bit for my simplisafe system to realize this device was now the closest signal but now that it has connected, the doorbell camera is functioning faster and better. As a note, I did run into one snag during set up. Because this device is a higher grade device than my current mesh system, during setup, it wanted me to set this device as the main. I said yes without realizing the implications and it took a bit to get everything re-setup. If you are going to connect this device to your modem, then set this as the main. If you are not connecting it to the modem, do not set it as the main.
