I ordered this product because i specifically searched for a metal chain but i got a orange plastic one delivered. really disappointing. the quality overall seems fine so far but i don’t know what to do with the chain, i really don’t want that color in the space i want to install the backdrop

Before getting into the details, I want to mention that I already own one of these sets made by Neewer. This set exceeds the first sets quality much to my surprise. The installation instructions are far from helpful, plan to look for video tutorials. I would include one but really can't do it by myself and the length is better suited to online hosting locations.Okay, so first things first - I was able to use parts from this set and my old one interchangeably. The basic design is the same and these fit on the Neewer rack. That was nice since I have a Veripole system and didn't have extra support attachment brackets but could swap out parts to test without putting holes in my walls. You can mount the rack on a ceiling or wall, however I would strongly recommend that if mounting on a ceiling you use a bolt system instead of screws. Once you add support rods and paper this thing is quite heavy, especially if you go with the metal conduit option. I am going to use this particular set for the cardboard tubes that paper comes on, but if you do this you cannot leave the rolls hanging - they will warp in the middle and no longer roll. Because of this, if you want to use the carboard, you need to take the paper off the wall at the end of shooting and store it on end.You need to plan for what type of rod system you will use - the rod support will fit a pipe or tube of 1.88" to 2.16". You have to get a 2" pipe because anything in the USA other than this is too small or too large. As it happens, the cardboard tubes your paper comes on will not fit over a 2" pipe as they have an exact interior dimension of 2". Sliding the pipe into them is impossible - believe me, I tried really hard to make it work. So, what this means is that you have to either take the paper off the carboard and transfer it to the support of choice, use the cardboard tube only, or you can use adapters and get 1.75" pipe and make the ends 2" (make sure one end can screw off so you can fit the carboard tube over it) and then you need to have something to fill the gap between the pipe and the carboard tube so that the paper will roll and unroll as it is supposed to with this system. It sounds complicated, I know, but my suggestion would be to do the paper transfer to a 2" pipe or just use the cardboard tubes and take them down each day for storage. If using the cardboard, I would not use paper wider than about 6 feet, length is irrelevant, you just want to avoid the tube bending in the middle. The way these work is you place the supports into the end of your tube and screw in - there are tapered parts on the ends that press in and expand the white center segments. When tightened, it allows you the spin the tube and roll/unroll the paper. The chains are plastic as is most of the kit, you do need to be careful not to just yank on them or these won't operate smoothly and you could break something. I will note that this kit has stronger spin gear things on the end and they feel a lot more sturdy than the Neewer. At the bottom of the chain, you have a weight. The weight in this kit is smaller than the Neewer but slightly heavier. It has nice grooves for the chain and allows for easy operation.I love the kit and am really glad that it fits the other system so that I don't have to worry which end pieces are in paper rolls or metal tubes. It can support really long tubes (I have 12" in the photos) and if you ever dealt with trying to get lengths like that in the portable systems you know how miserable it is and how often things bend in the middle from the weight. I like the ability to have multiple options available without having to pack/unpack different backdrop options. If I were rich, I would have an electric system that would be similar, but this is great for a budget professional setup. If you get a Veripole system, the whole thing becomes portable and can be used anywhere there is a floor and ceiling within 8-10 feet between to allow the Veripole something to press against.
