So I’ve owned a lot of tripods. Many different tiers. If you want to use big lights, and big soft boxes these won’t cut it. But gear has gotten so much smaller. For small lights and modifiers these are great.I set up a 28” smvd flip, with ad200 and it was plenty stable in doors. I would use some weights outdoors but I would do that with beefier tripods anyway. For my pop up home studio, I honestly don’t want to deal with my larger equipment. Sometimes I just want to mess around, or toss some stuff in the car for mobile shooting. For most purposes I feel these light weight options are just better. When deciding on between these and the carbon fiber equivalent. You save about .3 Lbs per tripod. When carrying one this seems insignificant, but if you were to carry 5, it starts to add up. The cost of the carbon fiber ones are double to triple. For me the aluminum was light enough that the extra cost wasn’t worth it.Note, I owned 2 of this same light stand already, in a different brand. The two are identical other than color and accents. I purchased this brand because of the bag. At first I didn’t like the bag because it was a bit big, but once I figured out you can do 2 stand in one bag I was stoked. I am glad I have the other little stand cover from the other company for when I just want to take one.

I've used this with a speedlight and umbrella as well as an AD300Pro with the 33.5" softbox attached and it performed perfectly. These shoots were indoors. I think I'd have wanted to have a sandbag on it if I was outside in any wind.Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for to add to my small portable portrait kit. I will be buying another one.

Review for: "Portable Travel Light Stand 86.6in / 2.2m Sturdy Aluminum Alloy Light Weight Tripod Light Stand with Carry Bag for Photography Studio Outdoor Shooting Speedlight Flash Reflector Ring Light"It is a nice portable light stand that can also be used as tripod. Just mount a mini ballhead on top and it function as a nice tripod for my Sony A7IV.I have a very similar lightstand from Dedolight ($174) which is my goto lightstand when traveling light. With only 1/3 the price, this Soonpho is a very good alternative. At full height Dedolight feel more sturdy. This Soonpho is a little bit woobbly. But adding weight (usually I hang my backpack) solve the problem. I wish there is a small hook on the bottom pole to hang the Backpack. But for this price point, no complain.Pair it with Godox AD200 pro, this lightstand is perfect for traveling.
