I was very skeptical on this system but I didn’t want to run wires or deal with charging wireless speakers.I had outlets right where the speaker would be placed so that already was worked out.Setup:Easy peasy they setup themselves practicallyAnd linked right away.Ran the calibration and boom welcome to spatial soundSpeakers:Well constructed I don’t mind the color tho some may wish it came in black. They all syncd with no issue. Also I have not experienced any drop outs.Keep in mind having a wireless router near these can cause issues I’d suggest moving it out of the area to another room.Sound:I have to say these thing do as advertised.Sony has always been a top tier brand and this is a reminder why. This witchcraft of audio is truly revolutionary. Now with that said no it’s not going to be as loud as a home theatre but if you dont want to run wires and deal with that nonsense this is for you.I’ve never had to go above 50 it’s plenty loud.As far as configuration my room is odd and have the tv in the corner so the speakers are also at corners and let me tell you it still does the spatial and atmos thing beautifully.I will advise you should get the subwoofer I opted for the sw5 and it shakes the house amazing .Highs and mids are covered very well.Streaming:You can stream to the device (hta9)With Spotify or Amazon music sounds awesomeEspecially if you do some spatial sound musicListening to music is def an experience with the “special effects”Cost:This is expensive yes I got this during a sale subwoofer and hta9 for 1800 which wasn’t bad in hindsight for how the system sounds. Is it worth it over a sound bar. Yes!I’d pick this system over any soundbar.Cons:Pass through of vrr is not supported yetNot really a deal breaker as I would only use arc connection and have hdmi straight to the tv.Overall:Very nice top quality home theatre system.Atmos and spatial sound are awesome.Get it and forget about the money

After a week's use of the system, the sound this morning started to breakup.1. Change the ARC HDMI cable... No difference2. Unplugged the control box AC several times.3. At one point when the control box was repowered, the HELLO salutation was on the screen but it stayed there and did not respond to any remote control command.4. Depowered the control box, once again, and upon repowering, the control box resumed normal operation. In a subsequent instance where the HELLO remained fixed, waited 5 minutes and the control box resumed normal operation. Wondering if the sound glitch is something I will need to live with ?5. I assume the control box was reset and configured speaker installation in my room.6. Sound back to normal without glitches. Finally: The problem is not the control box ! The following setting adjustment is the resolution:Setup/Advance setup/Speakers/Wireless/RF = Change from Yes to No.In spite of having RF OFF the sounds breaks off, press HOME then setup and on the tv screen to the right of Advance Settings, you will see RF... Turn it ON and see the software configure the speakers for RF and this will resolve the issue. And another setting is available to have a stable sound with no breakups: Advance settings/Speaker settings/Wireless settings/Quality playback: Change from Sound Quality to Connection.Unfortunately reviewers do not have the patience to find out how to correct dropouts... I invested the time and you can follow what I did.BTW, I elected to take the 200 watt subwoofer, because I live in an apartment house and I am perfectly happy especially for music listening. I do have a problem with this SW3 woofer and that is the power cord does not lock in the device power port. I needed to secure with tapes. Cannot touch the unit because the power cord cannot ne anchored normally. Install Tapes over and under the cable connected to the woofer than install tapes across these two tapes so they wont move. And, I always leave the sound on IMMERSIVE AE for all listening situations. One year after my purchase of the system, I changed the SW3 subwoofer for the SW5. The change was the right one for the sound of music and, surprisingly for the dialogue by some males for TV.But one month after my purchase of the SW5, whenever the A9 system is powered back, the SW5 refuses to connect to the control box. The only way it will connect is to shutdown the sub and wait 10 seconds then power the sub and it pairs with the control box within 10 seconds. To make my life easier, I am using a WiFi power plug to power the sub thus shutting by voice using Alexa and tell Alexa to turn on Subwoofer seconds after the A9 is turned on. I'm happy with that. Some power outages can be harmful... So recently, this particular power outage caused 3 of my 4 HT A9 speakers to play dead and not power up in spite of many attempts. I got in touch with my insurer and they opened up a claim file. But then I searched within Sony online facilities and after time found the solution... One must disconnect defective speakers from the power outlet for 30 minutes. After this time period, I plugged each of the 3 speakers and each immediately displayed the flashing pairing green light and they were all paired to the control box within seconds. So I then called my insurer and had them close the claim file.

The sound quality and the rest of the audio experience are simply beautiful with this home theater. I was worried that if the content wasn't Dolby Atmos or surround compatible, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the speakers, but there is nothing to be worried about. Everything sounds great, and Dolby Atmos movies and Spatial Audio compatible music are even better. The sound was already good enough without a subwoofer, but I got the SW5 a few days later and I'm preferring the sound with the SW5. Set-up was extremely easy for both, the HT-A9 and the SW5 subwoofer.

I had a lot of random drop out issues to a point where using it became more of a problem. Now I changed the locations a bit and it seems to be better, no dropping so far.

Outstanding!Occasional drop outs but soon rectified by switch the RF Channel On/Off and On again.
