Works intermittently, unable to obtain signal

The volume control was useless or did not work.It didn't really help at all for locating a stronger antenna signal.

At first I could not get any reaction from the meter, while connected to the antenna. I knew the meter was on, because the back light was on. I happen to turn it up right and it came to life. While I had it flat in my palm, it wouldn't work. For some reason my meter only works in a certain position. This made things difficult since the antenna install was in the attic. I didn't have much room.My second trip to the attic, to adjust the antenna, I took a portable mini tv. Mine is a Tyler 7". There is a long list of mini portable tvs, to choose from both on Amazon and eBay. Once I connected the mini tv to the antenna. I didn't have to climb up and down from the attic to check the channels I was receiving.In my humble opinion, the best tool for OTA antenna installation is a signal strength meter, capable of reading signal strength in dbs. Knowing your signal strength, would allow you to know, if you need a signal amp. However, I was not able to find one, at a affordable price. My main three tools for adjusting my attic antenna was, this signal meter, a mini portable tv and the app, Antenna Point.
