This is my third Packit bag and I’m very happy with it. It compresses pretty well so it doesn’t take up much room in the freezer. I find it very roomy. I usually use these bags when I’m out for the day running errands and such. I pack some drinks (water, soda) and maybe a snack. This bag has plenty of room for all of that. It’s a nice and easy way to have a cold bag on hand. If you’re traveling, you can pop it back in the freezer at your destination (hotel, vrbo, etc) so you have a cold bag ready when you need it.The mint green is a pretty color. It has a strap on top with a latch if you want to hook it to something, which is a nice idea. It has a small front pocket and side mesh pocket which are handy for silverwear or napkins. It’s a great little lunch bag! This review is for “PackIt® Freezable Lunch Cooler, Soft Mint, Built with ECOFREEZE® Technology, Fully Freezable, Collapsible, Reusable, Mesh Side Pocket, Top Handle, Multi-Use Lunch Box, Cooler.”

What I love: the Packit is easy to fold down and keep in the freezer until you need it. It is well made. The zipper works well, the stitching is neat, and the materials it is made of are nice. I thought this cooler would be equivalent to any lunch-box sized cooler but was disappointed after doing an experiment that compared its cooling capabilities to that of a 30-year old Igloo Lunchmate with two small Cooler-Shock ice packs. The clear winner was the Igloo cooler with ice packs. The upside of the Packit is that the Igloo cooler looses space due to the ice packs. The problem with the Packit Lunch Cooler is that it has ice-packs in all the sides but it doesn't have any insulation so the ice-packs melt quickly. The Packit is a good option to keep your lunch cool, say from breakfast to lunch, but if you're hoping to keep something cool from Breakfast to dinner you should look for another option. Here's the experiment I ran to compare the Packit (P) with the Igloo (I).To start I put a 1/2 cup of 79 degree water in a glass bowl in both the P and the I. Then I measured the temp of the water at three hour intervals. The coolers sat side-by-side in a 70 degree room.Three hours later: P = 42 degrees, I = 31 degrees (the cooler shock ice packs are colder than 32 degrees!)Six hours later: P = 60 degrees, I = 34 degrees (the Packit is already warming up inside!)9 hours later: P = 67 degrees, I = 39 degrees24 hours later: P = 69 degrees, I = 67 degrees (neither of these options were good for 24 hours)Obviously, if you put COLD items in the coolers they keep the contents cold longer. If the coolers are subjected to a warm environment (a day at the beach) they will warm up faster.

I've used this a few times to transport items that should be cold. The coolers seems very well made. The ice packs inside the cooler walls make a pleasant sloshing noise when not frozen, but having the internal gel packs adds weight. Fully frozen, the sides are hard. The gel packs seemed to melt faster than I thought they would, however the cooler remained cool. Some gel packs are designed to melt but keep the cold temperature and this seems to be what happened. Zipper and buckles seem like they are high quality and will last years of use. The cooler folds almost flat, which is still about 3 inches thick, but easy to stuff in the freezer and pull out. The cooler remains flexible when frozen, so that helps.Per the TSA rules, this may be TSA compliant, if the internal gel packs are still frozen solid. I have not tested this, but if you know the regulation, and wait until the last minute to take the cooler out of the freezer, it should be fine.

This cooler bag is perfect for keeping snacks and drinks cold during the workday. I toss it in the freezer overnight, and by the time I pack lunch in the morning, the built-in gel packs are fully frozen. I like that it doesn’t need separate ice packs, which makes packing quicker and less bulky. The mint color looks fresh and clean, and the extra mesh pocket is handy for dry snacks. It holds a sandwich, drink, and a couple extras without feeling cramped. When not in use, it folds flat in the freezer and doesn’t hog space. It’s been my go-to for a while now and still works great.

My job is difficult to find a fridge or space. I thought this lunch box would be super convenient and it sure has been. First, it fits a lot of food and Tupperware nicely. It simple but that is perfect for me. The color is also nice and it’s easy to wipe off if water or food gets on it. It keeps my food cold until I am able to find a fridge with space. With it having those ice packs around it, it does make it feel heavier than a lunch box without it. Still my go to and favorite lunch box.
