They are like giant cookie cutters for pies. Use one side to make the bottom crust and the side with the holes to make the decorative upper crust, then set them on the inside of the mold, fill with filling and squeeze shut. This may be basic pie baking instructions, but I put egg wash on the insides before squishing them together and they held together better. The batch I did without the egg was was still good though. My book club loved the fall themed hand pies. And they really are the size of your hand. Cleaning was a pain to get the dough out of the decorative size of the cutter but otherwise I'm excited to use these again.

To the point fussing that it’s die cut on both sides: just melt it down until it’s low enough it doesn’t touch the dough. Cutter on one side…vents on the other. Duh.

Well I used these right away but I found that when you cut the shapes and then place inside the mold, it looks like it will work great but once you put in the filling, it doesn’t touch the edges right so then you have to reshape a bit so you can close up the edges.

Thee were very helpful in making 100 apple hand pies. You really have to take your time with each one if you want it to look like the picture. Be careful using flour, because the edges will not stick together. They hurt my hand a little because I was pressing too hard to keep the edges crimped. For the most part, they did come out easily. It could be time consuming depending on how many you are making.

Vents on both sides making it impossible to cut the pieces out. I tried to use one side then use the inside to cut the other piece out but it did not work. Oh and one broke immediately. Had I got them at the dollarstore it wouldn't have been so bad but it's basically $20 down the drain. Don't buy.
