I purchased the 3 inch diameter auger bit because it fits my Ryobi 18V Auger's output drift shaft which has a ~19.6mm (20mm) diameter shaft for auger bits, which this size seems hard to find. I previously purchased a commonly found size of 7/8 inch (22mm), hoping it would work, and although it will fit on the Ryobi and is "usable" for short time, there is just a too much slop or wiggle because the 2mm difference really shows in a 30-36 inch long auger bit. Also the previously bought 22mm one has a larger bolt hole which does not fit well with the Ryobi. This model from LONGRUN with it's 0.79" (20mm) has a cotter pin which fits perfectly in the Ryobi. The smaller drill bit on the end attached easily, though I better remove it after each time or I see it rusting in place, but that would be fine as not planning on using without it. With this auger I have only augered 2 holes down to about 10 inches in very hard clay and it did fine. This auger I bought for planting bulbs. I posted this review now because the most important part of this purchase was knowing how it connects to my Ryobi Auger and wanted to pass this on. Thanks.

Great item for sand. If there's rock or heavy root system you better hold on and watch your sensitive parts.
