I have an Australian Shepherd that sheds like mad. She has consistent issues with mats and loose undercoat that causes her to look unkempt. I've tried all manner of brushes, combs, and rakes throughout her 13 years, but this is the one thing that has grabbed a hold of her loose undercoat and pulled it out. I have pulled another dog's worth of undercoat from her fur, but she feels and looks so much better. The birds are happy, too, because they have some nice, cozy nesting material! This is my go to brush with my longer hair dogs, but it also works really well on my Lab/German Shepherd and my Norwegian Forest Cat (IYKYK - they're furry!).

Our older dog needed a good grooming and it did a good job. Now that her undercoat is cleaned up it doesn't do much for her. I bought another finer brush for weekly brushing. It will help with the tough jobs in spring getting rid of the winter coat.

My senior dog with a partial undercoat was not too pleased being brushed even using the wide side very gently but it did get down to the undercoat and pull up the soft fluffy down underneath.We only got several handfuls before he decided he'd had enough.We did get a lot more undercoat with this brush than with our old fashioned circle type brush, it's just slow going at first to detangle even the shorter haired undercoat.We will get to it all but it's gonna take some treats and repeated short grooming sessions.On the other hand, the other dog, a single coated short hair absolutely loved it and turned his hind end around for a scratch.This was a good value and I'll use this brush but it's not the magic solution I was hoping for.
