Works Great! The thin metal liner inside the plastic cover/cap , I believe ,is to dissipate the heat. I think it's too thin.It does get warm to touch the adapter so I placed heat conductor tape that came with my ssd drive inside the cover to assist in removing heatNo issues so far

Product unfortunately doesn’t work with 2280 drives on the iPhone 15 Pro without also providing external power, making the form factor kind of useless. It does however work with 2230 drives without external power. Also I have a DJI Mic 2 which can be plugged into the USB-C mic port making for a pretty cool portable ProRes video station with great audio capabilities as well. While the product is a good solution, I can only give 3 stars because of the lack of 2280 form factor support and the pretty poor build quality and poor cooling performance due to the plastic housing. If they re-release this product with only 2230 support, aluminum case and better heat sync capabilities and they will have a 5 star product and I would definitely be the first in line to buy it.

This is a pretty nifty toolless magnetic SSD for your iPhone or other magnetic attachable mobile device. Unlike the others I've tried, this one supports all four typical consumer sizes of NVMe drives, including the most common 2280, giving you maximum flexibility for storage.Note that the magnet is only for attachment. You'll use the included USB-C cable (color matched to the baby blue enclosure) to connect to the phone for data and power feeds. Power comes in through the side connector, and the other long side has USB-C and 1/8" ports for headset/microphone/etc.Another note, the magnetic attach on this enclosure is raised, so you can get a little bit of airflow between the phone and the drive. I am not sure how much of an issue this would be, but on a warm day it might help.At the normal $40 price it's a fairly reasonable deal, but it's currently got a 20% checkbox coupon which brings it down to $32. Other enclosures without audio or 2260/2280 support can easily get that high so this is a pretty keen deal to me.

I’m using this with a Lexar 2280 4tb pcie gen 4 ssd and an iPhone 15 pro max and a MacBook Pro M1 Pro.Setup went fine. Instructions don’t explain where or how to use the included thermal pad. It does clarify that the 2280 size ssd does not need to use the screw which is fine and all except the only thing holding the drive in place is a small plastic tab. It also just snaps closed so the build quality doesn’t instill a whole lot of confidence. Also the enclosure doesn’t appear to have a capacity o assist in data being stored properly before it looses power like some enclosures offer.I was able to transfer all 3.25TB in about 20-30 minutes which was awesome and so the speed is definitely up there and didn’t slow down at all. I’m using it with APFS encrypted and that seems to be fine so far. When using it with my iPhone 15 pro max, the drive would sometimes stop talking and glitch out the files app with a message of an unknown error occurred and a try again button that does nothing until you unplug and replug the drive into your iPhone. I also tried charging my iPhone using a PD charger and it said it was charging but seemed to be way slower than plugging my iPhone into the same charger directly. I swapped the usb c cable for another cable I already had and that helped the reliability of the drive on my iPhone quite a bit so maybe my cable was defective. The only other issue I have is that the color is so incredibly ugly. A simple neutral color like gray or black would have been much better in my opinion.Overall it’s nice and the first product like it to market but it has a lot of room to improve and I hope to see a future product that addresses these issues.
