These are handy to have on-hand for those emergency situations. I had a door that was a bit higher on one side when closed. I watched several instructional videos because I wanted to do this safely. They fit well into the winding hub and were just long enough to make the winding easy. The hub end of the bars have knurling to provide extra grip. The rubber handle covers provides some non-slip comfort. The included gloves were a nice touch but I opted to use my own gloves.Grab you some rods, along with an eight point 7/16 socket for that just-in-case scenario. Be safe and always position yourself to one side of the winding bars. Might want to insert the bars fully and wrap black tape around the bar for a depth gauge, this will alert you later if it's not fully inserted.

This fit perfectly and gripped the socket for turning the spring! Would recommend!! I almost never write reviews….

These bars feel heavy duty and solid. There's about 5 inches of knurling on the chamfered side, which is a nice touch to ease insertion and to reduce slipping. The grip end also has around 5 inches of rubber for grip, and comes with some gloves with rubber grip dots (not the highest quality gloves, but it's nice that they threw that in). Many winding bars are 18", and this one is about an inch shorter than that. It would've also been nice to have some kind of insertion depth indicator, but you can just use a piece of tape for that. Overall, they're solid and are better than using a cut piece of rebar from the home improvement store.

These winding rods are made of durable zinc steel and feature a non-slip rubber handle, providing a secure grip while working on garage door torsion springs. Their robust construction and thoughtful design make them perfect for the job, whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or someone who regularly handles garage door maintenance. What I appreciate most about these winding bars is their sturdy and reliable build. The zinc steel material feels strong and durable, giving me confidence that the rods won’t bend or break under pressure. The non-slip rubber handles are a great feature, offering a secure and comfortable grip that makes the winding process much safer and more controlled. This grip is especially important when dealing with high-tension springs, as it reduces the risk of slipping or losing control. The length and diameter of the winding bars are ideal for effectively and safely adjusting or replacing torsion springs. They provide the right leverage to apply the necessary force without requiring too much effort, making the job quicker and easier. I’ve used these winding rods a few times already, and they’ve performed exceptionally well each time, allowing me to adjust the tension springs with precision and ease.Another great feature is how straightforward these winding bars are to use. There’s no need for complicated instructions or additional tools; they fit perfectly into the winding cone of the torsion spring, making the adjustment process simple and hassle-free. The black finish also gives them a sleek, professional look, which is a nice touch for a tool that’s designed primarily for utility.
