This ALPAKA ecosystem would have easily earned a five-star rating if it weren't for the frustrating challenge of detaching the key ring from the ring holder. As I write this review, my hands are sore from the effort it took to get it off in the first place, and I'm dreading the prospect of having to grapple with it again when I switch accessories or keys.As for the hub system itself, the quality is undeniably impressive; however, the design leaves much to be desired. Given the premium price tag associated with this ecosystem, I expected a more intuitive user experience. On a brighter note, the card holder really demonstrates ALPAKA's thoughtful design approach. It features a high-quality waterproof material that feels durable and reliable. The layout includes a dedicated slot for your immediate ID, along with two additional spots at the back for storing other essential ID cards, making it both functional and convenient. When it comes to the security offered by the magnets, I'm somewhat uncertain about how sturdy and reliable the connection truly is. The magnets have a pleasant tactile sensation and snap into place with a satisfying click. However, only time will reveal their durability, as I have yet to accidentally dislodge my ID or keys. Conclusion: I’m giving this product 4 stars primarily because disassembling it to install your keys or ID holder is quite a frustrating experience. The holder does not come pre-attached, which adds to the inconvenience. Additionally, for the price point, I expected a more intuitive design that wouldn’t require so much effort to set up. Overall, while the functionality is there, the difficulty in assembly and installation detracts from the overall value.

Like all Alpaka products, this is pretty good. Well made, sturdy, and quite an ingenious little connection mechanism. I will say, the ID badge itself is a pretty specific addition. If you know you need one this is a good option, but it’s not super useful otherwise (no fault of the product). I’m not 100% confident in anything like this for riding a bike or motorcycle, but to put inside a bag or carry on your person at the office it’s more than fine. The actually clip attachment is very small, but the larger clip that attaches to your bag or belt is larger than it appears in the listing photo. Not too bulky, just bigger than I expected. I also probably wouldn’t put much more than 3 cards in it, though I imagine you could squeeze more if you had to.

I’ve got a few pieces of Alpaka gear at this point...one of their slings, a tech pouch, a passport holder, a wallet, and the key organizer...and I’ve been pretty impressed across the board. The materials are always solid, and the little design touches are just right. So when I saw this magnetic card holder system, I figured it would be a nice addition. And for the most part, it is.First off, the magnetic clip system is awesome. It’s one of those things that feels oddly satisfying to use. The pull tab makes detaching the card holder really intuitive. It's easy for you to do, but secure enough that it’s not coming loose on its own. That balance between ease and security is where a lot of other systems fall apart, and Alpaka really nailed it here. The card holder itself looks and feels great. The black waterproof material is just as nice as the stuff on their bags, and it matches the rest of my Alpaka setup perfectly. Functionally, it’s compact and holds 2–3 cards without issue. I’ve been using it for my work ID and a backup payment card, and it hasn’t let me down yet. That said, the actual card window could be better. It’s not the clearest, so anything with fine print is harder to read through the plastic. The design also leaves a bit of the card exposed at the top, which makes me worry about long-term wear if dirt or water gets in. I wouldn’t mind seeing a version where the card is a little more protected.Installation was a bit of a chore, too. Getting the clip separated to mount it took some real effort, and I was nervous I was going to snap the thing before it finally gave way. Once it’s on though, it’s rock solid. Not something you’re going to need to mess with often unless you’re swapping accessories frequently. So yeah, a few quirks, but it’s a smart little tool if you’re already in the Alpaka ecosystem. It’s clean, functional, and just feels well thought out, even if the card protection could be improved. If you’re already running with one of their bags or slings, this fits in seamlessly. And if you’re like me and already kind of invested in their gear, it’s an easy one to recommend.

This is an id clip that is perfect for putting on your belt or a crossbody sling strap that has a loop attachment point. It can hold your id card where it is easy to grab. If having a badge stolen is a risk, then this isn't the right product for you, because it would make that easy, but if you didn't worry about theft, this is a much easier solution than a retractable badge holder etc.
