I have wanted an ice cream maker for years. They're so expensive and they take up so much room and they are so complicated and difficult to clean. Then I saw this. I ordered it in a heartbeat, hoping that I have the right Kitchenaid to fit it on, and it worked perfectly! The head bit slipped right into place, the bowl snapped and locked right in where it should, and it ran perfectly from start to finish! It took about half an hour to go from ingredients added to soft serve, and it was seriously as easy as turning the mixer on and walking away.I'm not sure that I will trust putting the beater in the dishwasher, though. It's definitely plastic, and it doesn't feel particularly sturdy. Plenty sturdy enough to stir soft-serve ice cream, but I'm not sure what hot water would do to it over time and it's not a risk I'm willing to take. It only takes a minute to hand-wash. Have to hand wash the bowl anyway.According to the instructions it can just be left in the freezer all the time, so storing is easy and it will eliminate the need to plan ahead and get it in the freezer to get cold. I left it in my freezer for a couple days while I went to the store and gathered what I needed, so it was plenty cold by the time I got to it.It did not make hard ice cream. It was definitely on the soft side of soft-serve. I should probably have put it in the freezer - as per the instructions - before serving. I was excited, though. It turned out delicious with just a recipe that I found on the internet. And it was about five minutes of work to prep and 30 minutes of the machine running. It takes more effort than that to go out and buy ice cream. I'm very happy with this little attachment!

The main thing I was concerned about was if this would fit our older kitchen aid. Was very pleased that it does! It does take up a chunk of freezer space, but it’s easy to use. I can finally have frozen yogurt again! I loved it as a kid but can’t find it very much anymore (and never dairy free). If you happen to live on a mountain that gets very cold in winter, you can also just set this outside to freeze if you don’t have freezer space. 😸It’s easy to clean once it warms up and takes up less space than adding a second machine that only makes ice cream (assuming you already have a kitchen aid. Does not come with a kitchen aid.)

The wife loves this. We make homemade ice cream every chance we get now. Especially with this tariffs coming into effect, and everything's going to get expensive, why buy translation ice cream at a higher price?
