My only use for spinning rust drives these days is bulk cold data storage using server-grade (Enterprise) drives. These are very reliable but get HOT. So when choosing an enclosure, heat dissipation is a major shopping criterion. All-metal with fan is the best; a plastic or metal/plastic enclosure with fan is second, metal with thermal coupling between the drive and the shell is next, metal/plastic with no thermal coupling is the worse. This RSHTECH falls somewhere in the last few categories. The shell is solid aluminum but deceivingly the drive is mounted in a grey plastic internal frame which, does not allow direct heat transfer between the drive or the aluminum shell. It LOOKS like metal in the photos owing to the color, but it actually is rather soft ABS plastic. Per my summary above, you can enclosures having more metal/coupling here for about US$10 less (e.g. the gunmetal-colored rounded-edge GODO enclosure). When assembling, I also add a layer of metal (such as aluminum foil) in between the top cover of the drive and the inside surface of the metal shell, it also reduces the chance of rattle. In the case of this enclosure, that works fine with Seagate EXOS-series data center drives. This enclosure comes with a single exterior mounting screw that does mate with the drive frame, and a nice-looking USB C-to-C, C-to-A (adaptor) cable. So far in limited testing HOT Enterprise drive temps get into the mid 40'sC which is well within the acceptable range, USB3x transfer rates are about what you would expect from the drive specs themselves.

Easy to use/install, pretty rugged, no issues with drivers/functionality. Just works.

(Review Sample Tested)I tested this product for approximately two weeks with a standard 3.5" 4TB 5400 RPM Seagate HDD on Windows 10 (22H2 - KB5041580). First, the enclosure material is great and sturdy, making me feel confident as I'd bring it with me in my Laptop Bag with no damages. The product isn't overbearing; instead it's minimalistic in look and setup. Plugging in the HDD was a breeze, with helpful LED lights letting me know when the HDD goes to sleep and when it's in use. During my use, I never experienced any problems with connection, HDD recognition, or speeds. It performed about the same as if it was plugged in via SATA.For the price, this is a fantastic HDD enclosure that I can't recommend enough.

I needed a 3.5" container to access files on a standard 1TB HD from a computer that fatally crashed. Received the order in about 20 hours (semi-rural WA state) and had the drive inserted and up and running in about 10 minutes. Works great.

I bought one of these and installation took all of about two minutes. Two screws hold the drive in a plastic sled, the sled slides into the case with a single piece SATA and power connector, two more screws and you're done. A small board on the rear of the case contains the SATA to USB bridge. Includes power supply and a cable with a USB 3 A or C connector (with a slick adapter) to the USB C connector on the unit. A removeable plastic gizmo allows the unit to be stood on edge to reduce footprint. Don't forget to press the power switch or the drive won't mount. A few days later I ordered a second unit and will be ordering a third soon. I highly recommend this case.
