They are plastic, look pretty good, make sure you have a plan how to install them, I spent 1500 plus and I cant return one of the boxes even though they sent me a different design and color because I waited to long to finish the project. Just an fyi,

***One star because of inaccurate description***This item is not suitable for glue up installation. The Amazon description is not accurate. The box actually says right on it: "For Drop in Installation". If you attempted to glue these the edges of the tiles would be more than an inch from the ceiling. Depending on the condition of your ceiling you could end up with a big mess if you attempted to glue these up. If you drop these into a grid they would be just fine.
